Senior Credit Analyst Finance / Sandton, Gauteng

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the credit risk management of a portfolio of exposures: identifying, measuring, monitoring and managing credit risk for all product types on a single obligor, group and portfolio basis
Critical assessment of credit risk of new companies falling in the analyst’s portfolio (the portfolio may change from time to time)
Identification of transaction and business specific risk and introduction of risk mitigation factors on new transactions
Perform comparative analysis amongst industry peers to assess a proposed counterpart’s position relative to its industry peers
Annual / semi-annual / quarterly assessment of credit risk per company in analyst’s portfolio
Financial analysis and credit ratings to be accurate and updated as and when new 1 .5 years

information becomes available, using the suite of Moody’s KMV products used by SCM
Document analysis in the standard credit application format – information should be accurate, complete, comprehensive and of good quality
Critically and independently making recommendations to the relevant committees
Close consultation with Credit Portfolio Management (“CPM”) to enable CPM to calculate accurate Economic Capital and Risk-adjusted return statistics
Ongoing monitoring of transactional and credit risk aspects in analyst’s portfolio; and
Ensure compliance with the Credit Risk Strategy and Policy at all times.

Assume control over an industry portfolio as allocated per analyst, specialise in industry and secular trends; identify early the onset of problems that could ultimately lead to counterpart failure in the specific industry sectors
Make recommendations regarding certain maximum limits per industry sub-sector; and
Assist CPM with proposals on Economic Capital limits per sub-sector, if required.
Assist Compliance Department where necessary with relevant information related to new account opening procedures
Assist the Legal Department where necessary with the finalisation of legal documentation and assist the Legal Treasury Advisor with information pertaining to Facility Agreements, ISDA, ISMA and CSA documentation.
Ongoing monitoring of limits and exposures in portfolio;
Assistance in resolving breaches;
Interaction with corporate clients on debt funding initiatives;
Maintain credit files (whether hard copies or in electronic format) of counterparts in analyst’s portfolio in good order; and
Take responsibility for reporting requirements as allocated from time to time.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies:
Minimum B.Comm or relevant tertiary commerce qualification.
4-6 years relevant corporate and institutional credit experience in the banking

insurance or asset management environment within an overall credit portfolio context;
Previous experience in assessing and monitoring of debt structuring transactions and debt syndications;
Previous exposure to corporate credit processes and procedures essential; and
Previous experience in assessing and monitoring of credit derivatives and other synthetic credit instruments an advantage.
Analytical and numerical skills: ability to analyse financial statements and quantify financial risks
Produce written reports in order to highlight financial matters of importance
Present credit applications and to stand up to the Subcred or similar committees
General knowledge of business, industry and the macroeconomic environment and financial markets
Experience of commercial law principles and ability to assist with the documentary process (with legal assistance)
Good presentation skills
Strong organising and planning abilities
Computer literacy: proficiency in Word and Excel
