Position: Senior Credit Risk Analyst
Reports to : Head of Credit / Credit Portfolio Manager

The Position
The Credit Risk Analyst role is to work with statistical information and government legislation, to analyse market trends and make recommendations to the relevant business unit as to how to reduce and control credit risk. They are responsible for developing methods to predict how likely a person or company who borrows money from a financial institution is to default or not pay a loan. The Analyst is responsible for measuring; analysing, monitoring and identifying credit risk as it pertains to the environment through the production of sensitivity, simulation, scenario analyses and modelling. Additional focus areas include reporting monthly on the relevant credit metrics indicating the performance of the portfolio.
Responsibilities
• Extract and analyse credit data so as to inform: underwriting policies, affordability calculations and business rules.
• Produce clear and comprehensible reports, documentation and proposals to aid in effective business decision making, while outlining estimates, input-value scenarios and assumptions that provides indications of the models accuracy, robustness, stability and limitations.
• Assisting the Head in preparing and presenting reports to the Executive Management Team
• Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money
• Take responsibility for the management of automated business rules and affordability calculations
• Using computers and computer systems to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information
• Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing or verifying information or data.
• Monitor and review information from events or environment to detect or assess problems.
• Determine time, costs, resources needed to perform a work activity.
• Assist with product diversification strategy from unsecured to secured, mortgage, pension-backed, revolving etc.

Skills Requirements
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree
• Post graduate degree preferable
• At least 2 years’ experience in a credit environment
• Comprehensive modelling capability
• Proficient Microsoft Office Applications, SQL and programming skills
• Proficient in using SAS to manipulate and analyse data

Remuneration
An industry related remuneration package commensurate with the level of appointment and the experience of the successful candidate will be offered.
