Senior Customs Broker - Brokerage Department at Head Office PURPOSE OF THE JOB To ensure accurate import and export documentation preparation for goods shipped and verification /audit of custom broker activities to ensure proper documentation and procedures followed as per the company set procedures and policies while maintaining our core values and culture. KEY CUSTOMERS The Clients KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS OBJECTIVES KEY JOB OUTPUTS • Customs procedures and Customs Act • Coordinate / monitor clearances of shipments. • Expert knowledge of the Customs and Excise Act, Rules, Regulations, SARS policies and the intricacies related to the management of the brokerage department. • Ensure that the correct rebate items have been declared for the specific tariff heading and/or client. • Ensure that the correct import permit have been declared for the specific tariff heading, commodity and brand per importer. • Ensure the correct Customs Procedure Codes have been utilised at time of clearance. • Advise the manager of any deviations by the controllers as regulated by the Customs and Excise Act, Rules and Regulations. • Must be able to do manual Basic Calculations. • Proactive risk profiling. • Do customs bills of entries. • Do administrative support, phone calls, filing • Clear /walk entries through customs • Ensure no VOC’s due to framing errors. • No write off or penalties due to framing errors. • No refunds due to framing errors. • DTI policies and requirements • Coordinate / monitor clearances of shipping’s. • Communications and interaction • Communicate with customs brokers to ensure that all documentation and procedures are accurate. • Communicate and interact with SARS • Liaise with clients. • Quality check • Do quality check of own entries before handing to Quality Assurance, verify the correctness of the Customs clearances. • ShipShape • Do all entries on ShipShape • Adhoc • Do all adhoc requirements as per department’s needs. • Reasonable and Lawful as required from time to time by Manager. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Matric with Maths • Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics imports and exports would be advantageous • 5 years’ experience in Logistics and Transport industry • SKILLS REQUIRED ? Must be excellent with MS Office packages (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). ? Must be excellent with MS Office packages (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Internet and Connect Intranet. ? Knowledge Required ? Three years tariffing and framing entries ? Customs Act – old and new Acts ? Customs procedures ? ISO procedures and requirement ? Undertanding DTI policies and requirements. ? Understanding OGA requirements ? Good knowledge of Incoterms ?
