Job Title: Senior Dams Engineer
A reputable firm of consulting engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Dams Engineer in the Dams and Hydropower Division in their Johannesburg Office.
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree in Civil Engineering, preferably MSc level
• Professionally registered with ECSA as a Pr.Eng.
• 20 years of Dam design and project leader experience
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing concept options, detailed design, constructability, cost estimation and construction supervision support.
• Client liaison, liaison with authorities, internal and external project management, technical design and review of all dams types e.g. earth embankment,
• CFRD, RCC and submitting tenders and proposals.
• Manage dam, hydropower and other water related projects internally and externally including management of the design and tender documentation production process for employer designed, Design and Construct and EPC type contracts, manage the tender, negotiation and construction supervision/owner’s engineer processes for projects both within and external to South Africa.
• A good knowledge of FIDIC and other contract forms would be an advantage
• Must be able to undertake and review dam and associated works designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures.
• Must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings. Occasional travel off the African continent is also required.
• Identify, pursue and develop work opportunities in the dam and hydropower sector. Other ad hoc tasks assigned by seniors within team
