About the Role:
Opportunity available for a Managing Editor to plan, guide, edit and inspire a team of digital content writers. The ideal candidate needs to have a thorough knowledge of website content publishing and social media platforms and strategies. The candidate must also be familiar with South African and International mainstream television, must be prepared to work flexible hours and have a passionate learning attitude.

Requirements:
Relevant tertiary education - degree in Journalism, Digital Communications, and / or Media
6 - 8 years online publishing experience
Examples of past published work a requirement
Fluent and experienced in advanced writing and publishing in English
Fully computer literate (experience with Apple Mac), and have excellent MS Office software skills
Excellent understanding and experience with cross-platform digital trends and technology
Experienced with image editing software such as Photoshop or others
Experienced with online and social media platforms and publishing in a professional environment i.e. Websites, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Blogs, Snapchat, etc
Experienced with South African and international mainstream television entertainment
Experienced with copy editing across platforms
Attention to detail including schedules, grammar, punctuation, publishing requirements
Be able le to work under pressure, be deadline driven, a fast learner and have a passionate learning attitude
Teamwork and communication will be vital for the success achieved in this position

Duties:
Digital content creation, writing articles related to broadcast events, website publishing, social media content and publishing, writing cross-platform copy, research and reporting).
Senior and lead team are required to lead by example, and include responsibilities:
Cross-channel standardisation of best practice for website and social media
Editorial overview and planning of cross-channel priority content
Quality assurance of publishing across channels, with daily checks
Have a strategic understanding of key content across channels
Team content training, knowledge sharing and guidelines
Implement and guide team with best practice as well as take initiative to advance team requirements.
Assist Management with key project requirements
Project coordination: liaise between management team, client, and content team on outputs and requirements
Coordinate and plan key dates and content with team, and updating a publishing book with each
Track SLA requirements, guide team and report on delivery
Project and campaign proposals, reporting or feedback
Enhance online and social media strategies and implementation
Be familiar with multiple online publishing and reporting tools, and make recommendations
Represent client in project or channel meetings, including their client’s status
Manage editorial teams shifts and schedules, ensuring these are updated regularly
Set up content regular meetings for all editorial team for content planning
Editorial Sessions are to share guidelines and knowledge, content plan, inspire creativity, and plan strategies
Taking initiative to advance project and team requirements
