About the job:

Our Client who is based in Johannesburg Area has a permanent position for a Senior Drive Specialist. Typically the ideal Applicant will be required but not limited to the following roles and responsibilities:

• Lead a team of engineers on all Low Voltage (LV), Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) Drive Application projects.
• Provide consulting service to clients on LV Drive application projects (AC and DC).
• Responsible for training engineering staff on LV Drive (AC and DC) competencies and skills.
• Supervises team of engineers and support staff in the execution of project delivery, which includes design, implementation, testing and customer-site startup of complex LV Drive systems (AC and DC). Leads efforts to re-use and standardize engineering pertaining to application solutions or technologies across multiple projects.
• Develops and drive strategic initiatives for the projects team

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering discipline (Bsc.Eng).
• Registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng.
• Typically eight or more years’ experience in LV Drive application projects (AC and DC), which included designing, consulting, implementing and commissioning.
• Specific LV Drive (AC and DC) application experience
? Multiple drive conveyor applications
? Cranes and hoists
? Pumping
? Fans
? Active Front End systems
? 2 and 4 quadrant DC drive systems
• Must have a good understanding of PLC based control systems (preferably Allen-Bradley) and be able to integrate VSD's into these systems.
• Must have a good understanding of application of VSD's for energy saving initiatives
• Needs to be able to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
• Needs to be able to effectively manage and develop team members
• To be conversant with MS Office software products Excel, Access, Word, Project etc
