You will be consulting with employees and managers on labour related matters. Drafting of legal opinions in line with Labour Relations. Providing legal advise when required to do so. Assist with disciplinary hearing, counselling, grievances and trial advocacy. Briefing attorneys of record and appearing at the Labour Court if necessary. Handling Labour Relations Matters.

  • Rendering professional advice and counselling with regards to labour related matters / disciplinary actions or litigations
  • Interpretation of labour legislation
  • Involved with collective bargaining / consultation with Trade Unions
  • Co-ordination of all parties involved at the Commission with Trade Unions
  • Cooirdination of all parties involved at the Commission of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitiration
  • Act as presiding official at disciplinary hearings
  • Represent the Respondent at the CCM
  • Ensure that staff is properly informed about their rights and obligations in terms of disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • The evaluation of risks specifically related to non-compliance with legislation and policy
  • Monthly reporting on all labour matters and compliance to the Group
  • Facilitating of training for supervisors / managers
  • Identify training needs in line with trends poor work performance and discipline.

Minimum Requirements:

  • LLB Degree
  • Preferable admitted attorney
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • 2 Years proven track record in labour relations / compliance / in practice as an attorney
  • Good working knowledge of labour legislation and in particular LRA, BCEA, and EEA as well as legislation relevant to the insurance industry.
  • Responsible for typing and compilation of own reports
  • Ability to research interpret case law and drafting basic legal opinions.
