POSITION: SENIOR ENERGY ENGINEERING LEAD FOR HV TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION
LOCATION: Melrose Arch, Sandton
TYPE: Permanent
SALARY: Experience and qualification based

OVERVIEW:
Strategic Senior Lead required for international engineering and consultancy firm based in Sandton. The role is to provide senior leadership with a strong knowledge of the South African Energy market, clients and energy authorities to coordinate and lead services across the Advisory and Systems & Process business offerings. The role requires a strong technical energy background (both HV and Renewable – PV and wind) with client-facing project delivery experience. Will be required to provide front-end market advice, technology selection, programme & project management to increase ‘supply’ side generation and associated transmission & distribution areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BEng/BSc in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering (minimum requirement)
Masters a definite advantage
Must be registered Pr. Eng. (minimum requirement)
Minimum 15 years post-grad experience in full engineering practice, business development, design and project management with specialisation in energy generation, supply, transmission and distribution
Must have experience in renewable energy (PV and wind) sector
Must have overall knowledge and insight into power and energy infrastructure in South Africa
Strong technical energy background with client-facing project delivery experience

ROLE:
It is expected the role will be based in Johannesburg, with regular travel to Cape Town. It will require occasional international travel to link into the firm’s global energy network and other senior leadership activities.
The role will be to take a lead responsibility for the value (turnover and profitability) of all work in energy in Southern Africa, including a major input to the preparation and delivery of annual operating plans.
It will involve the close liaison with office and group leaders to determine a target listing of work opportunities, selective bid ‘go’/’no go’ determination and winning work, assembling project teams and control over performance on projects.
