The incumbent must have experience within the Insurance industry and will be required to provide professional and ethical financial practices and be able to service and support business decision making and performances.



Qualification:

CA (SA)



Skills & Experience:

Strong GAAP and IFRS knowledge

Min 6-8 years’ Financial Management experience within the Insurance industry

Managing audit processes and handled any queries

Strong people management and development skills

Strategic Thinker

Able to work effective in big teams

Client and Stake holder commitment



Job Description:

Keep abreast of trends, legislation and best practices within the financial management field in order to optimize service offering and delivery.

Develop segment finance policies, procedure and processes in line with Group Finance frameworks.

Maintain finance governance principles and structures within the segment in line with finance best practice (GAAP, IFRS etc.)

Manage continuous improvement efforts by managing the identification of opportunities, cost reduction, improvements and systems enhancement.

Drive the development and implementation of tools that allow for increased, efficient analytical capabilities and that allow business leaders to understand key financial issues in a timely and effective manner.

Collaborate with business leaders to formulate short and long-term financial objectives and financial models for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the segment.

Partner with business leaders to assess the financial implications of new business initiatives and provide input to the financial feasibility of business cases.

Oversee the service delivery of financial analysis, forecasting and what-if scenarios that provides value-adding insight.

Provide business leaders with insight regarding the interpretation and explanation of financial analysis, forecasts and scenarios in order to guide business decision making for the segment.

Oversee the delivery of accurate and timeous segment reporting (including KPI and operational reports), analysis and insights.

Review consolidated segment reports to ensure that the information is appropriate and accurate.

Oversee accounting practices in line with group standards and ensure that cost allocations are aligned to the MMI methodology.

Contribute to the audit process and resolve any audit queries within deadlines.

Support the preferential procurement process and provide management information and insights regarding suppliers.

Manage the segment chart of expense accounts, cost-center reporting hierarchy and levels of authority framework.

Oversee the development, maintenance and optimization of financial systems for the segment.

Manage the segment asset registers and ensuring adequate investment into the renewal of the infrastructure.

Build and maintain effective business relationships with Group Finance in order to manage service delivery in line with business expectations and requirements.

Oversee and control the process for the development, implementation and monitoring of fit for purpose budgets to ensure the segment operating model is adequately budgeted for.

Oversee the monitoring of financial performance by measuring and analyzing business results, initiating corrective actions and minimizing the impact of variances.

Oversee the production and delivery of accurate financial metrics, statements and reports for the segment (Income Statement, Profit and Loss Statement etc.) within agreed timelines.
