ABOUT THE JOB:
STRATEGIC OVERVIEW:
A sound working knowledge of the following key skills is critical to this role:
• General Ledger ownership including all transactions, checks and balances, reconciliations – and the ability to articulate the cashflow figures back to the business.
• FinSwitch mechanisms.
• JSE processes.
• Derivatives trading, including Fixed and Floating Leg swaps.
• OTC structured Bank transactions.
ROLE OBJECTIVES:
Reporting to the Financial Director, this key individual shall effectively demonstrate sound Finance Operations administrative abilities; to:
• Manage account reconciliations.
• Analyse expenses, pay invoices and upload to document-management system.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with inhouse teams (e.g. Operations and Investments) to gain a comprehensive understanding of all actions relating to cashflow, to ensure that journal entries are accounted-for and that the appropriate checks and balances are in place.
• Liaise with Investments team regarding required hedging cashflows and processes.
• Manage Switch processes and related documentation.
• Manage premium and commission uploads from vault data-hold and payments thereof.
• Run downloads from, and do cash-analysis of bank accounts.
• Maintain monthly investment spreadsheet to reconcile to bank statements.
• Manage sales and premium spreadsheets and premium accruals.
• Raise journals from cash analysis and investment spreadsheets and analyse cash and deposits balances.
• Assist with accrual of invoices.
• Process all account entries into 2 legal entities; including annuity cashbook, cash analysis and audit accrual.
• Upload long-term incentive payments, accruals, shared-services, reserves and payroll journals.
• Prepare account reconciliations for all balance-sheet accounts.
• Prepare annuities, fixed leg, reassurance and TPA fees journals.
• Perform manual construct and upload to GL, ensuring target % reasonability when compared to fixed leg.
• Produce schedules from ERP and send to Investment team to calculate funds owed to shareholders.
• Provide auditors with all required information.
• Submit annual CIPC returns.
REQUISITE COMPETENCIES:
• Exceptional attention to detail, well organised and deadline-driven.
• Highly solutions-driven, always finding ways to do thing better.
• Sound communication and interpersonal abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Relevant Tertiary qualification/s.
• (CA qualification advantageous).
