A leading IT Company based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Senior Java Developer to join their team. You will have hands on development responsibilities over various Web and Desktop front ends, SDK's, Web Services and Server software solutions. This will include integration into various platforms, cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud platforms. You will be responsible for Java development work, development processes and best practices, and actively developing software products in conformance to the specification, technical strategy/direction of the Architect. You will also play an active role in contributing to the environments and development direction. Outputs: • With a focus on Java, utilising cutting edge server/web/mobile development technology develop products over various platforms • Agile methodology with a focus on delivery in line with business need • Consult with product owner and business analysts in the definition of products and requirements • Inject new technology and learning in to the team • Mentorship of more junior resources • Ensure a high standard of development, overall product quality and compliance to standards • Leverage world class development processes • Provide client support on software solutions and processes • Assist with jobs outside of scope of pure development as company requires in order to service clients Requirements: • BSc, BTech degree or 3 year Technology Diploma • Solid experience working with Java and one other language e.g. Visual C#/Visual • Basic/Delphi/PHP • Good understanding of computer science principles especially SOA, TDD, • Web/Mobile, Agile methodologies, Data and distributed systems • Strong online/web and desktop GUI (Swing) development background with cross functional experience • 5+ years solid development experience (4+ years Java) • Experience in using Open Source platforms • Solid relational database skills Additional Skills: • User interface and usability expertise • Working with large data sets • Strong working knowledge of Persistence frameworks (Hibernate/Eclipselink), • JPA • Web Services (SOAP/REST) • JSP/JSON/XML/HTML/XHTML/JavaScript • MVC • Swing/NetBeans Platform/Eclipse RCP Platform • SDK/Library development • Threads/Threading/Threadsafe • development • JMS/ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ • Application Server (Glassfish/Tomcat/JBoss) Should you meet the requirements for this position, please email your CV to Jenna on ****@*****.*** or fax to (***)-***-****.
