Lead the Printmaking course component.
Share the Drawing course component and teach any other two-dimensional course component according to the workload distribution in the Department.
Supervise Postgraduate students on Master's and PhD level (both practice and theoretical course components), regardless of chosen field and medium.
Design undergraduate and postgraduate courses and modules in Fine Arts.
Assess various courses and modules in Fine Arts.
Establish own area of independent research in Fine Arts as appropriate to the academic standard maintained at the Department, while ensuring a commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity in research.
Generate peer reviewed creative research outputs in accordance with the requirements of the University of the Free State for the specific position as well as the newly introduced requirements of creative outputs set by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
Participate in Departmental and Faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the Department.
Contribute to community engagement projects of the Department.
Handle general departmental administration on joint course design and delivery.
Fulfil all other administrative duties related to the position.
PhD in Fine Arts.
At least five (5) years' experience in teaching on undergraduate level in the Fine Arts field.
Proven experience in the presentation of papers at national scholarly conferences.
Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
Proven experience in supervision of graduated masters' and PhD students.
A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels.
Assumption of duties: 1 January 2019.
