Successful candidate will provide business as usual support activities for all the OUTGROW’s Linux platforms ensuring that the platforms meet or exceed availability, quality, performance and resiliency requirements in SLAs agreed with business stakeholders thus contributing to the mitigation of technology risks for the OUTGROW.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the OUTGROW’s Linux infrastructure platforms meet or exceed the availability, performance and resiliency benchmarks in SLAs agreed with business stakeholders.
• Ensure the IM’s department’s Linux platform deliverables are delivered on time, with prescribed quality and add value to the OUTGROW business.
• Apply professional due diligence in everyday delivery to contribute to achievement of departmental performance targets.
• Ensure the OUTGROW’s Linux platforms meet or exceed the availability, performance and resiliency SLAs agreed with business stakeholders.
• Liaise with OUTGROW teams to assist with all Linux based applications and systems deployment, implementations and take ownership of troubleshooting issues related to Linux platforms.
• Maintain relationships with relevant vendors and service providers for production support issues and new improved technologies implementations.
• Build strategic OUTGROW / Industry relationships of Linux infrastructure platforms IT professionals utilising professional forums and networks, industry workshops, seminars, social media, and attending training sessions.
• Manage own delivery against agreed SLA’s for the Linux Infrastructure availability and performance by proactively identifying and removing obstacles that will impact the optimum provision of services.
• Monitor and conduct daily Linux Infrastructure health assessments to ensure network platform readiness for providing OUTGROW services.
• Apply specialist knowledge and skills to detect and identify irregular network patterns and discrepancies in Linux Infrastructure and take immediate action to resolve issues.
• Implement relevant Linux Infrastructure changes, upgrades and optimizations following prescribed OUTGROW processes and procedures.
• Communicate all changes in the Linux Infrastructure platforms to all impacted parties and concerned stakeholders.
• Resolve issues or escalate to 3rd level any unresolved complex Linux Infrastructure issues for immediate action and containment.
• Provide input into Linux Infrastructure solution designs based on BAU operations experience.
• Understand network and OUTGROW processes and best practices for a variety of configurations.
• Actively promote awareness of capabilities and limitations of the assigned infrastructure discipline across all stakeholder communities.
• Actively drive business process improvements both within the team and across IT to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
• Ensure that departmental governance, processes and procedures are understood and adhered to.
• Identify, manage and mitigate team and broader OUTGROW risks to acceptable levels.
• Ensure corrective actions are taken in the case of process failures to avoid reoccurrence of the same.

Requirements

Required Experience
• 7+ years total IT work experience
• 5+ years as an UNIX or Linux systems administrator.
• Recognized Science degree or diploma or equivalent IT work experience as a Linux or Unix systems administrator
• Relevant IT industry certifications

Skills
• Configuration of UNIX or Linux operating system environments.
• Troubleshooting of UNIX or Linux operating system problems of moderate to advanced complexity.
• Conducting root cause analysis for production issues.
• Planning and implementation of Linux based infrastructure platform solutions.
• Providing input into change management & implementation plans, incident reports and issue resolution progress reports.
• Identifying areas of continuous improvement in the UNIX or Linux operating system environments technology stack.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
