Provide actuarial and strategic advice

• Lead and Manage the function for Actuarial Business Support within the STI Actuarial team
• Provide actuarial and strategic support to the STI CEO and Exco
• Provide actuarial and strategic support to the Affinities and Strategic Partnerships team, including but not limited to:
o Conducting suitable actual versus expected experience analysis as required to advise on reasons for deviance and advising on corrective action required
• Provide actuarial and strategic support to the Broker team, including but not limited to:
o Maintaining and enhancing the Broker Segmentation Models
o Advising business on suitable profitability and growth strategies
• Maintain & enhance the Marginal P-Factor Models, at least annually and communicate results to all stakeholders, highlighting opportunities and issues identified.
• Develop, maintain and support actuarial MI to departmental and organisational stakeholders.
• Conducting due diligence / viability / feasibility analyses as required.
• Conducting suitable actual versus expected experience analysis as required to advise on reasons for deviance and advising on corrective action required.
• Develop and maintain appropriate actuarial and business planning tools and models to deliver outputs listed above.
• Critical and detailed review of actuarial models and processes.
• Responsible for staff resourcing, succession planning, management and development ensuring the right people are in place to support service delivery, achieving business objectives and performance targets at all times.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelors / Honours degree in Actuarial Science or similar
• Qualified or nearly qualified Fellow of Actuarial Society of South Africa
• 6 to 8 years’ working experience
• 4 to 5 years’ working experience within a non-life insurance environment
• 2 to 3 years’ people management responsibilities
