Senior Manager: Office of the Principal Officer - Medical Scheme - Pretoria - EE

Senior Manager: Office of the Principal Officer will report directly to the Principal Officer
and forms part of the Office of the Principal Officer Division.


Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
? Provide support to the Principal Officer (PO) for deliverables at the level of the Board,
? Board Committee and Executive Committee;
? Proactive identification of issues that could impact on the PO’s successful execution of
planned activities;
? Execute and manage research requirements in support of the Office of the PO;
? Ensure the preparation for ‘critical path’ meetings and facilitate requirements on behalf
of the PO;
? Represent the Office of the PO on Scheme Forums engagements where it’s deemed to
be appropriate;
? Support the PO in leading the activities of the EXCO by managing the EXCO
programme/activities and Chair the GEMS Senior Manager’s Coordination Group;
? Manage the divisional operational plan activities, staff and budget of the Office of the PO;
? Prepare all relevant PO/OPO Reports;
? Ensure oversight of the Complaints Management at a strategic level to support
improved member experience and retention; and fair treatment of members/providers;
? Ensure that proper record keeping and documents are retained and updated regularly
and prepare for submission statistical/statutory reporting as appropriate;
? Conduct risk analysis and business value evaluation of projects / plans for approval
and implementation;
? Support the Principal Officer with oversight of the Strategic Risk Management;
? Track and report on strategy implementation and review;
? Advise the PO on areas of strategic focus, prioritisation and appropriately tailor
implementation mechanisms to ensure alignment of priorities between internal divisions and the Service Provider Networks;
? Facilitate and provide recommendations to the PO and EXCO on policies, guidelines and procedural requirements; and
? Support aspects of staff management (recruitment, induction, performance appraisals and development).


Qualification, skills and competencies requirements are:
? B-Com and/or Business Management Degree or equivalent;
? A relevant post graduate qualification;
? At least 8 years relevant work experience, 5 of which should be at management level;
? A good level of Financial Management experience;
? At least 3 years of Project Management experience;
? A skilled communicator, be adaptive to change, engender a positive culture and implement a dynamic approach to communications and stakeholders’ relations;
? Corporate experience in stakeholder engagement/management, communications, consultation or relevant field;
? Strong understanding of consultation principles and tools and the ability to apply these effectively;
? Understanding of issues management in a corporate reputation context;
? Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
? Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle;
? A willingness to travel at short notice; and
? Sound understanding of medical scheme industry.
