Our client seeks a self-motivated, dynamic and innovative person with a track-record of achievement, for their group focussing on projects in Robotics, Vision Systems and Intelligent manufacturing systems. Outputs and impact are achieved through innovative products delivered to the market place.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:
BSc (hons), MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering,
Focus and interest in Mechatronics, Mechanical Design, Control Systems, Robotics,
7-10 years’ experience and competence in relevant fields,
Must have experience in supervising junior staff members,
A team player,
Practical person with a good track record in development of systems or products,
Good analytical approach,
Good presentation skills,
Good general computer literacy,
Good Solid Works or CAD skills,
Research and report writing skills,
Skills and experience in project management,
Ability to provide thought leadership and mentoring,
High level conceptualisation and analytical skills,
Problem solving, solution seeking orientation,
Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills,
A goal-oriented approach,
Ability to work independently as well as in teams.

Key responsibilities:
Mechanical lead designer on various projects that result in products,
Drive product development process,
Execute projects and deliver results on brief, on budget and on time,
Raising personal, team and institutional profiles through publishing of original research and presenting work at national and international conferences and workshops,
Interacting with peers within fields of expertise both within and outside the organisation,
Interacting with clients (internal and external) and developing long term relationships,
Effective communication and motivation in team context,
Work in a multidisciplinary environment with clients, engineers, scientist, project managers and technicians.

Salaries will be calculated according to qualifications and applicable experience.
