To perform the role of senior metallurgist within the division. The responsibilities and authorities of the senior metallurgist in the Hydrometallurgy divisions in relation to post requirements of managerial, technical and key support personnel are outlined.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following :

Data processing / control, reporting of testwork according to company guidelines and report writing.
Responsible for monitoring of consumable levels and expenses in conjunction with the divisional manager.
Evaluation of results and interpretation, assist with trouble shooting
Management, training and direction of subordinates in quality, testwork methodology, safety and time management.
Client liaison is essential.
Design and costing of metallurgical testwork programs to achieve the clients objectives.
Participate in project decision making during the testwork program.
Assist with monthly invoicing of clients for testwork completed.
Setting up and running ion exchange, solvent extraction and electrowinning projects
Assist with commissioning of pressure leaching equipment and running of Pressure leaching tests Work is scheduled and carried out in a timely manner, and relevant quality benchmarks are maintained
Meet company targets with respect to turnover and quality
Responsible for the effective and appropriate use of equipment, facilities and good housekeeping.
Assist with the development, documentation and maintenance of methods and competence modules
Plan, set –up, commission and oversee the operation of continuous pilot plant campaigns.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the companies management system.
Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.

Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation

Qualifications
Education :
? National Diploma or B.Sc in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy

Experience :
? Minimum of 4 years in the relevant field

Competencies :
? Good people and communication skills
