Qualifications & Experience:
• 10 years IT experience in applications development, 5 of which are in service-oriented solutions architecture/design in a PHP development environment
• Minimum of 5 years PHP and MySQL experience
• Ability to develop using the Symfony PHP Framework
• In-depth experience in solution design and knowledge of SOA.
• Beneficial to have:
o Software Solutions Development/Design Training;
o Experience with Object Orientated PHP Framework(s);
o Experience with advanced HTML/CSS frontend development.
o Experience with other OSS languages like Python, Java, C, etc.

Requirements:
• Ability to develop software solutions in an Open Source systems environment using technologies such as Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, SVN, JQuery, CSS, HTML, etc
• Ability to develop PHP solutions using an Object Orientated PHP Framework
• Knowledge of best practices that ensure quality standards are met, ie strict change control, version management, release management, etc.
• Developing user experience architectures; business process and workflow designs; data architecture; identity and access design; designing and developing web-services
• Managing application development projects through the Systems Development Lifecycle

Responsibilities:
• Apply a substantial body of application solution design professional knowledge within Information Systems and Technology
• Deal with a wide range of solution development issues
• Take responsibility for software design, development, configuration, testing, release, and maintenance.
• Involves research, investigation, modelling, evaluation, making decisions, managing risks, making recommendations and establishing standards for the development and implementation of long and short term objectives of the Department to give effect to efficient software solutions and thereby enhancing service delivery.
• Operates at a highly proficient level supported by professional theoretical training and experience on the job. Able to work independently at a high level ensuring that any legal and organizational requirements are complied with.
