Senior PHP Developer

Location: Century City, Cape Town
Salary: R50k per month negotiable

About the Role:
Opportunity available for a Senior PHP Developer with a strong understanding of modern object-oriented frameworks such as Laravel 5 and up, able to take ownership of projects and mentor 2 to 3 junior to intermediate developers.
We are looking for a senior developer to join a scrum team of 3 developers, a Scrum Master, and a Product Owner / QA.

Requirements:
Essential:
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
Ability to work in a team and take ownership of projects;
Minimum of 4 years of practical experience with PHP 5.6, 7.0 and up;
Strong understanding of modern object-oriented frameworks such as Laravel 5 and up;
Experience with relational database design;
At least basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript;
Good grasp of Git.
Advantageous:
Linux experience;
Experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL;
Experience with NoSQL databases;
Experience integrating and building RESTful APIs;
Experience with cache services like Redis or Memcached;
Experience using Docker;
Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins;
Experience with front-end technologies (Angular2, VueJS, Webpack, ReactJS)
Knowledge on any other programming language than PHP; and
Relevant university degree preferred

Duties:
Work on various projects such as a marketing automation web application.
Work with the following tech stack: PHP 7, Laravel 5, MySQL, Elastic search, HTML, CSS 3, Bootstrap, Sass, Gulp, and jQuery.
We use GitLab as a repository and Git for version control.
Assist the more junior developers maintain a Yii application as well as a WordPress site
We develop our own IP, which includes a multi-platform e-reader that we keep on improving to respond to user needs and hit new target markets.
