A company, specialising in Mining and Construction equipment, has a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager – 6 months contract position. The candidate will focus on and not limited to IT and IT Infrastructure projects. The position is based in Sandton, with regular traveling to a branch in the East Rand.

Duties
Assuming ownership for highly complex, large scale, multiple businesses, geographically dispersed projects/programmes
Leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams in order to promote synergy and effective team performance
Exercising responsibility and decision-making
Assuming authority to execute responsibilities within the boundaries of the project/programme
Exercising governance on all aspects of project to deliver the agreed upon outcome/intent of a project in the context of agreed upon business partner expectations, commitments and constraints
Building and maintaining business relationship management with all stakeholders within projects and business
Ensure governance of projects, including gate reviews, gate control and the Project Management processes and documentation (updating of PM Software)
Ensuring the alignment of members of project teams within parameters of the project boundaries
Ensure continues alignment between all project stakeholders
Project scope management
Project time management (activity definition, activity sequencing, schedule development, schedule control)
Project cost management (resource planning, cost estimating, cost budgeting, cost control, project financing)
Project Quality Management (quality planning, assurance, control and improvement)
Project Scheduling and resource planning and managing (project organization planning, staff acquisition, team development)
Create a high performance work climate in the project environment
Monitor and optimise the performance of team members
Development of the communication plan in conjunction with Change Manager and its implementation (communication plan, information distribution, performance reporting, administrative closure, project finalization)
Ensure that the business owner has an appropriate change management plain in place (people impact)
Development and implementation of a risk management plan (risk identification, qualitative risk analysis, quantitative risk analysis, risk response planning, risk monitoring and control
Manage the procurement process such as evaluation criteria, bidders list, evaluation and selection of contractors/suppliers
Manage project knowledge (ensure/obtain and incorporate best practices and “lessons learned” from previous related projects per each phase of the project, ensure/conduct post mortem and gate review with stakeholders , ensure/facilitate “lessons learned” session with project team, ensure that best practices and lessons learned are published)
Adopt accountability for integration of business, technical, project and sponsor tracks of project management model or SDLC as well as the delivery of contractors and suppliers as an integrated team
Adopt accountability for ensuring that technical integration of project is performed in terms of other business units
Ensure that project objectives support business strategy and objectives and communicate information relating to the strategy, philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures to project team members
Manage multiple projects in different project life cycles

Requirements
8 years Project Management experience
Project Management experience in IT and IT Infrastructure projects
Completed relevant Diploma /Degree
PMP Certified – will be a great plus
Solid PMBOK knowledge and experience
Full SDLC exposure
