Essential Functions

• Refer to the Research and Development Manager.
• Design of slurry mixtures
• Electronically record the results of tests/evaluations according to prescribed standards
• Reporting on studies performed
• Report design for contractors
• Maintenance and Calibration of Laboratory equipment
• Provide technical assistance (telephonically or on sites) when required.
• Troubleshooting
• Provide technical support on the use and application of our products when required
• Generates mix designs for asphalt concrete (HMA). Conducts analysis of customer and job specifications
• Trains QC department personnel in proper testing procedures within the lab and in the field to optimize team efforts and efficient performance.
• Reviews, monitors, and interprets test result data. Making mix design adjustments when required.
• Inspects, samples, and conducts routine and special laboratory testing on construction materials in conformance with appropriate standard test methods.
• Prepares submittals for the various products.
• Tests and reviews material qualities for conformance following TG, SABITA, SANS, ASTM, AASHTO, and appropriate procedures
• Performs tests to insure quality of products during production, shipping, and at job sites.
• Communicates test results to supervisors, plant personnel and plant site QC.
• Insures proper documentation of results in the QC database.
• Conducts testing and assists in plant calibrations to ensure product quality.
• Assists and trains QC technicians.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Other Requirements

- Diploma/Relevant Qualification in QA/QC
- Five (5) years of construction materials testing experience in construction materials to include aggregates, bitumen, asphalt.
- Driving license
- Ability to travel and work away from home
- High quality orientation/attention to detail
- Someone with potential who can succeed the R&D manager in the future
