A leading multinational communications company that dominate in their market have an exciting job opportunity for a Senior Risk Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. You will review and challenge the Frameworks for each area to ensure they align to the strategic vision and standard of risk management.

Your key job responsibilities as the Senior Risk Manager in Johannesburg will include:

- Lead strategic, functional and process risk assessments workshops to identify key risks and mitigation activities
- Identify emerging risks within the Technology landscape and report to relevant stakeholders, as appropriate
- Contribute to establishing and quantifying 'risk appetite' concerning Enterprise risks including Technology risks, i.e. the level of risk prepared to accept, in conjunction with the General Manager and Executive
- Establish overall as well as Technology Risk Management programme within the second line of defence model, to align with the Group’s overarching Risk Management Framework
- Establish, develop and manage the Risk programme methodology and principles for Technology to deal with abnormal or unstable situations that may threaten MTN’s strategic objectives, reputation and/or viability
- Develop and implement risk policies including those concerning Technology and seek approval from the Group Risk Committee
- Retain overall accountability and responsibility for the various policies, including development, review, update and implementation
- Develop fit-for-purpose solutions that meet all business requirements and that lead to a best possible scenario in avoiding disruptions to the availability, scalability, quality and efficiency of networks and information systems (internally) and risks emerging from external environments (including cyberattacks, data breaches, and unplanned IT and Telecom outages)
- Monitor implementation of action plans to ensure risk mitigation efforts are proceeding, as required
- Evaluate the adequacy of the company’s internal control framework established for Technology in addressing risks and accomplishing goals and objectives

Requirements for this Senior Risk Manager job in Johannesburg:

- Degree in Risk Management/ Risk Management/ Business Administration/ Computer Science
- Post graduate MBA and/or master’s degree is advantageous
- Professional qualification in Risk Management (CRISC) is advantageous
- Minimum 5 years of Management Experience, with at least 3–5 years in an ICT/ Digital/ Technology Risk environment, in a medium to large organisation
- Experience in managing complex telco, Digital and/or ICT products or projects and/or risks related to them
- Understanding of various international risk management and business continuity standards
- Experience in working across diverse cultures and geographies (advantageous)
- Understanding of emerging markets is advantageous
