Key Performance Areas

Manage the enterprise risk management framework
• Maintain the Enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in terms of latest methodologies and best practice
• Ensure the consistent implementation of the enterprise risk management framework within the organisation
• Deliver expert operational risk advisory services to all business units operating the company by taking ownership and being responsible in supporting the business units in the use of the operational management system and tools
• Support the company by embedding key indicators in the risk profiling process
• Develop and maintain the ERM and Operational risk policies
• Liaise with GM: Enterprise Risk and business units on risk related matters
• Provide challenges to the business unit risk reports and distribute these to management
• Ensure risk reports are produced, monitored and discussed with management in line with the ERM framework
• Provide support to business unit management in carrying out their respective risk management responsibilities
• Facilitate proper allocation of responsibility and accountability (i.e. DOP)

Manage the annual risk assessment process and risk register
• Co-ordinates workshops on the top risks of the organisation (strategic and operational) and quantify with mitigation (probability and impact assessments)
• Facilitate the collation and reporting of results from key risk indicators monitoring and instituting a process for escalation and addressing control weaknesses identified
• Support BU’s risk owners in preparation for risk management assessments,
• Monitor and review the documentation from operational risk tools and other reporting in business units to ensure consistency in terms of delivery within timeframes
• Generate reports and submit to Exco for Board Risk Committees
• Compile the Risk Register:
• Provide assistance to the business units to feed information into the company Register
• Perform the super user and administrator functions of the risk management system
• Revise appropriate risk methodology/approaches regularly

Risk Management and Reporting
• Create risk awareness within the organisation to ensure there is a formal risk management approach:
• Ensure synergy and a common approach to risk management in the company
• Ensure that each business unit’s strategy incorporates risk management principles
• Ensure the incorporation of risk management in performance contracts
• Enhance business unit’s organisational structure
• Conduct or coordinate training to enhance the skills base of risk within organisation
• Facilitate the appointment and management of risk champions throughout the organisation
• Develop an enterprise-wide risk management implementation plan
• Engage with BU SM & GMs on verifying the risk registers.
• Assist in the preparation of the quarterly Exco and Board Risk committee packs. The report to incorporate Top 10 risk exposures with the planned management actions to address these risks
• Distribute the reports to the Risk Committee of the Board, ORCO and Exco
• Compile and review risk reports for risk committees of the company; ORCO, BU Mancos, Exco and Board Risk
• Facilitate and report in consultation with management any emerging risks

Develop the business continuity plan and coordinate the Disaster recovery plan (DRP)
• Interact with business units in populating templates (head office and AFC network)
• Assess adequacy of information
• Identify appropriate service providers
• Conduct regular testing
• Ensure that the information in the BCP’s are kept up to date

Coordinate ORCO meetings
• Convene the ORCO meetings
• Prepare the agenda and distribute timeously to the relevant role players
• Compile the ORCO documentation packs for the meetings
• Take minutes of the meeting and distribute timeously to the relevant role players
• Compile matters arising and minutes for follow up action

Manage Human Resources
• Appoint and maintain the human resource requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliverables
• Compile the Performance Management documentation in collaboration with the staff member
• Track and monitor performance in accordance ERM deliverables
• Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/s performs at optimum productivity level
• Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary
• Appraise performance at the end of the performance period in accordance with policies and procedures
• Provide feedback to the relevant role players
• Complete Human Resource Management actions within the allocated time frames

Preferred Minimum

Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification (B Com or financial degree equivalent)
• Minimum 4 years within operational risk/auditing environment
• Minimum 3 years managerial experience
