Qualifications & Experience:
• 3 year Higher Education qualification in Telecommunications, Engineering or Information Technology-related discipline
• 5+ years’ experience in any IS&T discipline
• At least 5+ years’ experience in data network design and capacity planning
• Telecommunications network implementation experience especially in Inside Plant
• Voice network design an advantage
• Experience in planning long-term maintenance of networks
• Experience with vendor service level management

Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license
• Extensive professional theoretical and applied knowledge in Inside Plant capacity planning and broader telecommunications network capacity planning
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks, multiple networking protocols and protocol analysers
• Ability to research, recommend, and develop implementation of new technology products
• Ability to work systematically and accurately in complex settings
• Ability to work under pressure and tight project deadlines

Responsibilities:
• Apply professional knowledge and experience to assist a full range of programs, systems, policies and practices in relation to telecommunications Inside Plant capacity planning
• Perform Inside Plant planning, sequences and activities (planning and design) in liaison with other network planners, public and private stakeholders
• Prepare comprehensive technical studies, prepare plans and recommend data network solutions to support Telecoms expansion
• Inside Plant capacity planning;
• Coordinate preliminary investigations of equipment and resources, and presenting findings to the immediate superior;
• Ensure that client requirements are met;
• Coordinate feasibility studies of new infrastructure requests and associated Inside Plant requirements;
• Plan for the provisioning and dimensioning of new network routes;
• Adequately reference the Inside Plant infrastructure on the inventory planning and management tool;
• Ensure the infrastructure management and maintenance technologies and methods and processes proposed are suitable, affordable and properly employed.
• Issue detailed drawings and maintain feedback loops for reconciling planned and as-built infrastructure.
• Ensure that the inventory planning and management tool is kept up-to-date
• Take final responsibility for the accuracy of the data in the database
• Provide support in risk mitigation and business continuity planning
• Ensure timeous hand-over of required planning to the Implementation team
• Check the budget allocations for specific planning of Inside Plant infrastructure and preparing and submitting requisitions/ motivations for approval;
• Submit detailed technical plans to Management for network changes or additions;
• Undertake research or extracting information and records to support content, recommendations and/ or opinion and forwarding to the immediate superior for approval prior to circulation or presentation.
