SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST HAEMATOLOGY

SM Healthcare Placements is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Senior Technologist - Haematology in Durban, Kwazulu Natal for an exciting role within a Clinical Laboratory Organisation in the medical field.

To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Haematology Laboratory and to supervise the workflow.

The following are the qualifications, experience, knowledge and attributes requirements:

Education, Training and Experience

• National diploma in Biomedical technology
• HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist
• 3 years’ experience in a Haematology laboratory
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of the HPCSA regulations
• Knowledge of the Meditech system
• Training skills

Key performance areas

• Process specimens in order to ensure effective and efficient specimen flow in the laboratory.
• Assist with supervising the workflow on all benches to ensure the effective functioning of the laboratory.
• Perform administrative tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory.
• Make up reagents to ensure that efficient reagents are available to perform relevant tests.
• Train new employees in order to ensure continuous development and education.
• Perform Material Management tasks in order to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained in the laboratory.
• Perform health and safety related tasks in order to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain good client relations to promote the image of the company.
