The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying the Universal Group’s websites, from layout to function and according to a client's specifications. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. The websites should reflect the energy, innovation, passion and excellence that is core for the Universal Group.


Duties and Responsibilities

? Build features and processes for both large and small-scale websites
? Maintain coding consistency throughout the website lifecycle, including the design, definition and build phases
? Ensure that visitors to our sites have an easy and enjoyable browsing experience
? Demonstrate a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
? Work with marketing team to understand marketing automation and maintain integrated marketing automation technologies (such as Zapier, Salesforce, Pardot, K2, etc.)
? Ensure readability and provide quality control across all browsers and devices
? Work with team to ensure all developed assets, systems, and servers have the ideal security measures applied
? Collaborate with others to ensure that digital tracking and measuring tools are implemented
? Ability to work in a team environment with skilled experts using agile toolsets and methods
? Troubleshoot any site issues and stay up-to-date on current and emerging technologies, standards and trends
? Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
? The position requires constant communication with colleagues, stakeholders and executive management
? Regular exposure to business stakeholders and executive management, as well as the authority and scope to apply expertise to many interesting technical problems
? Integrating data from various back-end services and databases
? Strong grasp of security principles
? On top of emerging technologies/industry trends, applying each into operations and activities
? Good time-management skills


Experience and Qualifications Required

? BS/MS degree in computer science (or related field) or equivalent experience
? 5+ years of experience in professional website development and optimization
? 5+ years of object-oriented programming experience
? Superior knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, JSON REST / SOAP,
? Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
? Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks
? Superior knowledge of Wordpress, related technologies and similar content management systems
? Good understanding of more advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, DurandalJS etc.
? Experience working with ReactJS would be beneficial.
? An understanding PHP/ PHP libraries and frameworks, would be beneficial – but not required.
? Skilled in responsive web design + ability to provide maximum consistency among a large array of browsers and devices
? Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
? Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues, debugging practices/techniques and ways to work around them.
? Good understanding of SEO frameworks/principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
? Knowledge of graphics software such as Adobe Suite, Photoshop etc.
? Basic understanding of marketing automation software (creating landing pages, forms, and email templates)
? Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments/testing
? Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skill
? Experience and understanding of continuous integration, data structures and algorithms
? Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
