The purpose of this position would be to design, develop and execute sensory projects and programs with excelence to ultimately support business and departmental strategies.

Key performance areas will include but are not limited to :

The sensory testing of products to facilitate product intrinsic positioning within the relevant product/market category
Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to integrate analytical, sensory and consumer data sets to provide value-add, reliable, data-based recommendations for new product development or competitor landsape
Scout, develop and implementation of new, cutting edge sensory methodologies to support continuous improvement
Select the most suitable, fit-for-purpose sensory science methodologies and approach towards project/program execution
Ensuring high performance, attention to detail execution of sensory actions and deliverable within the sensory laboratory environment

The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

An advanced degree in Food Science, Consumer Science or equivalent technical area related to food and beverages with emphasis on sensory evaluation
5-8 years experience in the sensory field within FMCG industry (preferably food & beverage industry)
Working knowledge of sensory methodologies (traditional methods as well as new age, rapid methodologies and panel performance tracking)
Skilled in the use of sensory- and statistical data capture- and analysis software packages (eg., Compusense, PanelCheck, XLSTAT, etc)
Strong project management ability to co-ordinate multiple, concurrent projects and deliver accurate, quality reproducible and reliable sensory results within the agreed timelines
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work with and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
Action orientated, strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, flexible, agile, leadership qualities
