Key performance areas will include, but not limited to:
? Responsible for the effective operation of the sensory laboratory through:
? General housekeeping of the sensory laboratory preparation area, discussion room and tasting booths before and after tasting sessions.
? Preparation of sensory laboratory and samples according to the requirements for sensory test execution
? Assistance in execution of sensory tests according to sensory best practices.
? Disposal of redundant samples post sensory testing.
? Coordination of the sensory laboratory activities schedule with laboratory users.
? Stock-keeping of raw materials, samples, consumables and laboratory items.
? Supporting the Sensory Technologist with preparation of training materials for trained panel performance improvement drives.
? Supporting the Sensory Technologist with dispatch preparation and dispatch of samples and training materials to other company sites.
? Assisting in problem solving and innovation within the Sensory Insights department.
The successful candidate must preferably have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
? 1-2 year Technical Diploma, BTech/BSc degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
? A minimum of 1 year experience in a general laboratory environment as part of tertiary training, laboratory internship programs or prior work experience as a laboratory assistant. Experience in a sensory laboratory environment will be advantageous.
? General laboratory practices skills and knowledge.
? Demonstrated knowledge of the FMCG industry, specifically related to food and beverages.
? Proficiency in MS Office.
? Good organizational and time management skills and ability to manage tasks related to multiple projects.
? Good interpersonal and communication skills.
? Excellent attention to detail.
? Ability to perform under pressure.
? Full sensory acuity in terms of taste and smell abilities.
? Non-smoker.
