Location: Stellenbosch

Description: A company who specialise in producing and marketing liquor brands requires a Sensory Technologist to join their NPD and Sensory Department (Innovation Unit). The Sensory Technologist will report to the Sensory Innovations Manager. Key duties will include, but is not limited to: Recruitment, screening and management of trained and expert sensory panels. Facilitation of sensory panel sessions according to project requirements. Scheduling, coordination and execution of different types of sensory testing within agreed time schedules (including critical results review, initiation of additional analysis (analytical or sensory) and reporting of the sensory results to the line manager). Monitoring sensory panel performance. Identify and address training needs in agreement with internal standards and sensory best practices. Sensory test design and data collection in Compusense®. Collection and delivery of reliable and reproducible sensory data and top-line data analysis. Maintain the supply of laboratory materials and equipment. Liaise with internal and external suppliers of ingredients to obtain and optimise reference materials for sensory panel training. Coordinate and conduct sensory training of internal staff.

Key Requirements: BSc Food Science with minimum 2 years relevant functional business experience in food, beverage or similar industry. Demonstrated proficiency in applying quantitative descriptive, discriminative and rapid sensory profiling methodologies according to sensory best practices. Proficiency in MS Office, Compusense®, PanelCHECK and XLStat software. Statistical analysis skills. Ability to interpret and report panel performance monitoring data and project results. Complete fluency in English.

Additional Requirements: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to influence and motivate large groups. Preference will be given to EE candidates.
