Location: Durban, KZN

Description: A company who specialise in laboratory instrumentation and consumables requires a Service Engineer to join their team. Key duties will include but is not limited to: generating field and workshop repairs and services through ongoing customer contacts; generating of quotations and negotiating service contracts; procurement of spare parts locally or overseas; field and workshop repairs or services; filling out job cards for processing; facilitating orders for consumable parts or spares to be sold; monitoring of individual stock levels of spare parts or consumables; reporting to the Service Coordinator and Director/Manager on an ongoing basis; providing reports to customers when requested to do so, including technical feedback; providing customers with the best service possible. Customer and Principal feedback of a technical nature; attend training courses both locally and overseas; planning of service calls in consultation with the Service Coordinator, liaising with colleagues, other engineers and salespersons; travel arrangements and cash advances; relaying quality issues to the relevant parties; generating Documentation and reports in relation duties; facilitating workflow in and out of the service department; collecting and delivering goods and services if required; daily feedback report to the Service Coordinator of work done by email or phone.

Key Requirements: Technical diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and experience as Service Engineer. Computer Literate in MS Office and various operating systems. Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.

Additional Requirements: Experience in electronic fault finding and repair (lab equipment, analytical equipment, water systems, water baths, centrifuges, fridges, freezers, flow cabinets, etc). The ability to follow Electrical Schematics and block diagrams. Some understanding of mechanical devices. An understanding of technical specifications. Ability to work independently and with others. Understanding of ordering, stock control and invoicing processes. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and multi-task.

Remuneration: Market related.
