MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The main purpose of this position is to manage the quality of service in the dealership, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.

RELATIONSHIPS AND PERSONAL ACTIVITIES:

Directly responsible to: Dealer Principal
Responsible for: Service Advisor/s, Service Reception, Service Administration Staff, Productive Staff, Driver, and Cleaner/s.
Relationships with: Other company managers, Sales Manager, Financial Manager, Parts Manager, Manufacturer, Suppliers, Health and Safety Officials.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:

Establish and administer “in-dealership” training as required to cater for new model launches.
Manage a customer filing system and update daily.
Operate staff performance and appraisal systems and ensure action taken on result.
Ensure all administrative functions, record keeping and clerical operations are carried out at the appropriate time and kept up to date.
Ensure that adequate safety and security procedures exist and are operated.
Monitor cleanliness of service department and workshop area and other service related areas.
Maintain good liaison with other managers.
Advise Dealer Principal and all other managers on service related matters.
Maintain direct liaison with manufacturer’s representatives and all other contracts.
Marketing: Formulate marketing plan, initiate and conduct service launches and promotions.
Handle customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken.
Maintain record of customer complaints or congratulations for analysis and use as required.
Finance: Review all pricing policies and discounts to maintain dealership profitability.
Monitor cost and general condition of department assets.
Monitor credit and finance commission income to ensure budget requirements are met.
Monitor outstanding debtor situation and take appropriate action.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

Management, technical and marketing skills, knowledge and experience.
Ability to manage and administer a department, to provide organization systems and leadership.
Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation and of trade practices.
Able to motivate a service team to achieve objectives.
