Shaft Maintenance Supervisor (Mining experience).

Contract position in the mining sector in Africa. Single status position with a six day working week.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Fitter trade test with preferable N 6 and
• 5 – 10 years working experience in underground mining maintenance field with emphasis on mine shaft and winder
• Experience on Koepe winders, Mary Ann and single rope winders.
• Experience on inline mine ventilation fans
• Demonstrate strong administrative organizational planning and technical writing skills and able to plan jobs in coordination with colleagues and other departments
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors and/or contractors
• Well-developed English oral written communication and report writing skills
• French speaking is also preferred
• Ability to perform general administrative and supervisory duties to fulfill the requirements of position
• Computer literate-Microsoft Office Suite
• Holder of a valid driver’s license
• First aid certificate preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES
• This shaft maintenance supervisor role will focus on shaft and hoist maintenance, shaft repair, project planning and work execution.
• Ensure that all statutory inspection and maintenance is executed on the shaft, winder equipment and attachments as per country statutory requirements.
• Execute the planned jobs according to priorities, the availability of equipment and in accordance with Company’s work management practices.
• Distribute maintenance and repair jobs to underground Mechanical Maintenance artisans and technicians
• Actively promote safety culture and hazard awareness within the workplace
• Plan and organize maintenance jobs safely and within an approved budget
• Ensure relevant safety, mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance, ensuring safety at each work place
• Promote cross-cultural relations and understanding
• Practice and promote company health, safety, environmental and operational policies and procedures which complies with all regular requirements
• Actively participate in Company’s Continuous Improvement program
• Train team members in all areas of major responsibility to promote succession planning
• Perform periodic and scheduled inspection program to maintain maintenance standards of underground assets and infrastructure according to established mine maintenance and engineering standards
• Assist in training new employees by providing instruction on procedures, familiarizing with operations and review work assignment in order to orient employee and optimize performance
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
• Efficiently perform preventive breakdown, project, refurbishment repairs by assigning maintenance staff according to work requirements and priorities
• Prepare the regular and necessary reports as required
• Work with other maintenance software tools as required
• Perform Root Cause analysis of failures
• Coordinate with planning section to set/review required maintenance/repair plans, schedules and strategies
• Continuously monitor crew activities to ensure safe, efficient operations and make recommendations for revised procedures when problems are encountered
• Maintain production goals and objectives as a team
• Ensure all task or activities are executed and aligned with Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Instructions at all times.
