International player in the manufacturing industry requires an astute SHE Officer to be based in Pinetown, Durban
Key to this position will be to Develop, implement and Maintain the company’s SHE Management System. This role will assume responsibility for the DBN, JHB and Cape Town sites
KPI’s will include :
• Co-ordinate hygiene surveys and ensure corrective actions are driven to completion
• Coordinate all corrective actions for internal and external findings.
• Manager risk assessments and ensure preventative actions are identified and implement
• Ensure that legal appointment database is maintained
• Coordinate all appropriate SHE training
• Create, edit and review SHE procedures in consultation with various stakeholders
• Ensure mechanical, electrical and general safety inspections are up to date as per legal requirements or company standards
• Ensure all environmental monitoring is conducted as per company standards
• Attend/Coordinate SHE Committee meetings and sign off of all SHE Rep files
• Assume responsibility for internal SHE audits
• Submit reports as required and conduct trend analysis
• Present monthly SHE stats
• Communicate with Local authorities where appropriate
• Conduct PPE and SHE Work Instruction training
• Monitor any operational or structural changes, which may affect SHE Management control programmes
• Investigate incidents/accidents in conjunction with line management and other affected stakeholders
• Advise and support line management in correcting deviations and non-compliances
• Establish SHE Objectives and SMART targets
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
• Ensure monthly monitoring and reporting on waste streams
• Conduct environmental audits as per national guidelines
• Liaise with waste service providers
• Participate and drive environmental improvement programs
• Participate in ELS projects

Minimum Requirements for this position
• Matric / Grade 12 with SAMTRAC or equivalent (Minimum requirement)
• SHE Diploma / Degree or related qualification
• At least 3 to 5 years sound knowledge and working experience of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14000
• 3 – 5 years SHE working experience in a manufacturing environment
• Computer literacy- Microsoft office suite, with MS Excel at an advanced level
• Excellent Time management skills
• Analytical and detail-orientated
• Planning and organizing skills
• Project management skills
