1. National Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent relevant qualification
2. Working knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards
3. Working knowledge of OHS Act and COID Act
4. Extensive Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment knowledge

5. At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a SHE role preferably in a manufacturing environment
6. Computer literacy including MS Office
7. Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
8. Excellent communication, administration and report writing skills

 Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all relevant SHE policies, work instructions, forms and risk assessments in compliance with SHE legislation, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards
2. Plan and chair safety meetings; distribute accurate minutes and facilitate corrective actions identified in safety meetings
3. Compile SHE audit schedule and ensure audits are conducted as per schedule
4. Ensure safe and cost efficient disposal of waste and scrap as per legal requirements
5. Maintain PPE register, ensure that PPE is issued to all employees and used accordingly
6. Conduct risk assessments on all processes and implement actions to reduce or eliminate risks
7. Compile Impacts and Aspects register and ensure that the register is up to date
8. Coordinate and facilitate mandatory SHE training and SHE induction training for all contractors, new employees and visitors
9. Ensure legal appointments are up to date and adequate
10. Investigate all IOD’s and report to management
11. Ensure emergency plan is updated; schedule and coordinate fire and emergency response drills
12. Ensure adherence to all SHE legislation
13. Ensure effective document control and maintain all SHE records
