My client, a leading competitor in the Chrome Mining Industry is looking for an experienced and qualified SHEQ Manager to handle the Safety & Health section at their Unit in Steelpoort. The ideal candidate must be an African female that has an excellent related background.

Purpose of the job:

To lead the Safety and Health Team in providing a totally integrated S&H function to the site and to influence Site Management to embed a culture of
SHEQ excellence

Manage S&H compliance within the Department through effective use of the Toolbox
Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report S&H status

PEOPLE

Manage the Department:
Ensure an enabling climate/culture
Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
Labour complement in line with budget
Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Department
Manage performance against set targets and competencies
Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
Conduct recruitment interviews

Align the site with the Group SHEQ strategic direction and benchmark the company's SHEQ Practices and Systems against Best Practice within other Chrome Producers
Identify external S&H requirements and determine the impact they may have on the site
Align the site to Samancor Chrome Behavioural Expectations
Develop, align and implement Policies, Management Standards, Procedures, Protocols, Guidelines and Toolkits at Site Level (Chrome Level 6) and identify and implement tools to support implementation
Identify learning Interventions to support implementation of S&H Management System requirements
Facilitate external S&H Audits and monitor and report closure on Site Audit findings
Maintain ISO accreditation
Report on the Performance of Site S&H Management Systems
Investigate, analyse and interpret Site Significant Incident findings to determine trends and review Samancor Chrome and other applicable Significant Incidents
Analyse and interpret Site Behavioural Monitoring and make recommendations on findings
Maintain the Contractor S&H Management Process
Facilitate the development of the Site Risk Management Plan and monitor implementation for both pure and speculative risks
Drive the MOC process
Drive S&H projects
