SHEQ MANAGER - Cape Town - Rail Signalling Project. Will be required to Implement and review the Quality Management Plan (QMP), Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and Health and Safety Management Plan (HSP);
• Accept appointment as Section 16 (2) in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 1993.
• Oversee the investigation of SHEQ accidents and incidents;
• Ensure full compliance to local regulatory Health, Environment, Safety and Quality requirements and procedures;
• Ensure reporting of SHEQ and Assurance performance is conducted in accordance with Customer and contractual requirements;
• Ensure that Project SHEQ and Assurance requirements are monitored and reviewed;
• Provide daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to senior management;
• Communicate on behalf of the Project with external bodies in respect of SHEQ and Assurance;
• Act on the SHEQ and Assurance feedback collected throughout the Project;
• Consult with Contract Management and Engineering Management representatives on methodologies and standards, and monitor corrective
action progress and effectiveness;
• Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions;
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, providing technical support to other disciplines and providing co-ordination and control of
subcontractors’ quality programs;
• Implement statistical analysis of problems in order to identify trends and corrective action;
• Assume responsibility for organisation, and implementation of senior management tours, safety surveys, and planned general inspections,
• Identify corrective action on activities defined by work instruction, and to bring that activity up to an agreed standard as per defined Project
contractual requirements;
• Ensure that system assurance activities are adequately defined and correctly carried out through project lifecycle;
• Ensure that personnel involved in the delivery of the works are competent for the role for which they are responsible;
• Interface with Customer and their representatives for all matters regarding quality management;
• Define, implement, monitor, analyse and report on Quality indicators;
• Collect and prepare the quality records as input for the reports;
• Ensure that Quality Management Plan, Environmental Management Plan and Occupational, Safety and Health Plan, and associated
procedures, are followed by project team members;
• Coordinate (between units) the conduct of internal quality audits of the project;
• Ensure implementation and follow-up of preventive and corrective actions.

Minimum requirements:

• 7-10 years’ experience as a SHEQ Manager within Rail transportation/Engineering field
• 3 year National Diploma or B Tech in Safety Management
• SAMTRAC (NQF 6) Certificate
• ISO 9001 and 14001 certificates (Health, Safety and quality management/assurance)
• Code EB/O8 drivers licence
• Medically fit
• Be prepared to work long hours if required by the project requirements
