Job Title: Shift Boss
Location: Lime Acres

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be appointed in the Mining Department as Shiftboss: SLC Production. The successful candidate will be responsible for the achievement of production targets, budget and cost control as well as safety and risk assessment audits, evaluations and reports.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Ensure work is done as per Mine standards, procedures and within the guidelines of the Mine Health and Safety Act
Liaise with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve set targets
Production planning
Manage fleet utilization and Sub Level Caving management compliance
Manage costs, ordering of items and time keeping
Ensure that crew members adhere to Security procedures and to make use of systems, policies and procedures in place to achieve the mines HSE goals
Train and develop subordinates
Work shifts, overtime, standby and be available for call-outs when required

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12/or NQF Level 3 (relevant to position)
Valid Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines / Underground Hard Rock Level 3 Certificate of Competency
Valid driver’s license (EB)
4 years underground experience as a Shift Boss
Computer Literate in MS Office Suite
Sub Level Caving experience – an advantage
Completion of a Supervisory Development Programme – an advantage

Other Skills/Competencies:

Independent, proactive thinker and have the ability to do own job planning and make decisions
Supervisory/People management skills
Good communication skills in English

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates. Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance form part of the recruitment and selection process. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview. Employment of the successful candidate is subject to the aforementioned criteria. Preference will be given to candidates who reside within our host labour sending area of Kgatelopele (proof of residence may be requested).
