Job Description:

The function of the project manager will be implemented from the start of the project
May need to manage more than 1 project at a time
Operating system- Following the guidelines and structure as outlined by the system
Provide input towards improvement and optimisation of the operating systems
Successfully implemented the operating system from the start to the execution phase
Managing the structuring phase of projects- Establishing the projects team
Co ordinating the management project team
Ensuring the structuring phases are executed effectively by identifying and managing all required activities
Establishing a realistic, effective and robust project management planning
Controlling all structured phases of the costs and ensuring that spending remains within the set budget
Effective management of resources ensuring products are delivered on time
Supporting negotiates with the suppliers and contractors
Establishing a lean management structure of the execution phase which is effective and cost efficient
Assisting and leading the supply chains divisions issuing RFP’s managed the bid evaluation process
Responsible to ensure a successful structuring phase
Ensure the timeously delivery of project documents
Optimising the project budgets
Supporting the set-up supplier contracts which does not expose SSO or the project risks
Ensuring the establishment of a strong and efficient management team of the execution phase

Ensuring that the project teams and contractors employ due diligence with the terms, conditions, rights and obligations of the contract
Conduct meetings with the stakeholders concerning contractual problems and issues
Establishing and updating all the records of correspondence related to contract activities
Ensure the Sub-EPC adherence to project processes and procedures
Prepare contract change notices, monitoring contract performance, including the reporting and status of contractor and EPC deliverables
Ensuring that SSO remains compliant to its contractual obligations set in the Project Documents
Assisting in contract negotiations
Seeking instructions timeously in relation to the Contract variations
Receiving, assessing and administrating all Project related claims and variations, which will include payments
Continuously evaluating project KPI’s to ensure innovative project performance
Ensuring above average standards for Quality, Environmental and CSR

Minimum Requirements:

Degree or equivalent in Construction Management or Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
10 - 12+ years management experience of large construction projects, of which 5-6 years must be management experience within the renewable energy sector and relating projects
Management of all construction facets including electrical, mechanical & civil engineering
Ms Office & IT experienced
Accredited training for FIDIC & NEC contracts
Excellent track record of managing large scale projects
Working experience and knowledge of contracts relating to energy generating projects
Good work understanding of interfaces and stakeholders
Excellent knowledge of the structure process flow
Working experience on solar asset management & solar PV plant operations preferred
Exposure to HV networks and sub stations advantageous
PMP, Pr.CPM or similar accredited advantageous
Available to travel to 3rd world countries when required
