SNR QUANTITY SURVEYOR/COMMERCIAL MANAGER – ROADS & ASSOCIATED STRUCTURES (HIGHWAYS AND BRIDGES/CULVERTS) BOTSWANA.

This major construction company (CIDB 9) requires a Snr Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager – Roads & Associated Structures (Highways and Bridges/Culverts) to be based Botswana.

Responsible for, but not limited to:

• Managing the contractual aspects of a project (finance, contract administration, client liaison and procurement, insurance matters).
• All to ensure the best financial outcome for the project

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review contract documentation for commercial risk at bid stage and generate practical strategies.
• Ensure that contractual rights are retained under the different forms of contract particularly FIDIC.
• Ensure implementation and a disciplined approach is adopted in following commercial procedures.
• Assist in the drafting of contractual claims to ensure compliance with contract conditions with a view to ensuring the best chance of successful
resolution thereof.
• Ensure the adequacy of the reporting systems, methods and training.
• Assist in negotiating resolution of disputes as they arise.
• Assist in the correct and timeous issue and recovery of suitable bonds and guarantees
• Effective and efficient administration of sub-contractors by ensuring proper contract documentation, guarantees and procedures are used and
adhered to.
• Forecast of job to completion and identify improved strategies.
• Ensure effective cash flow strategies to ensure that projects are at least cash neutral.

Skills, Experience & Education:

• BSc/BTech/ND Quantity Surveying/Construction Management /Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience of which 3-5 years in a similar position
• Must have extensive commercial / contractual experience on large construction projects.
