Snr Systems Engineer Woodmead R15000-R20 000 per month To support clients/end users with resolving issues pertaining to company systems hardware/software and general facilities issues. To supervise help desk support staff and ensure that service level agreements are met and that calls are resolved timorously. Responsible for carrying out department projects or goals Responsible for planning department projects or goals Responsible for partial input into department budget The candidate will also be responsible for establishing and carrying out the policies and procedures for the IT department. Customer Service: Daily user support, communications, involvement, responsiveness, politeness, proactive, problem solver Adopt proactive problem management techniques Technical Ability, willingness to help others in IT, supporting clients and end/users with resolving issues pertaining to company systems, hardware/software and general facilities issues Policy and procedures, maintain, create and use documentation Priority management, employee focus and prioritization Direct supervision of support Strategic planning and finance Staff development Communications and interaction with 3rd parties. The candidate is expected to have the skills necessary for effectively resolving general questions regarding Company systems hardware/software issues and knows who to contact to resolve issues that are outside the scope of the candidate’s knowledge. The senior systems engineer must be able to quickly identify the scope and impact of problems reported, as their response will impact the ability of Company and/or outside vendors to resolve major problems. If a major problem goes unresolved, it could expose Company to financial loss or have a negative impact on customer relations. College and/or tertiary education is preferable, but we will consider applicants with a strong matriculation certificate and more than 5 years experience working in an IT environment. This could include support, helpdesk management, networking, and development or project management. Advanced understanding of Windows and DOS commands as well as Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 2003 or 2008 Knowledge of any Unix platform is highly recommended. Excel and Microsoft Project skills should be well developed i.e. Expert level.
