Software Administrator
Our client is looking for a software database administrator.
A Database Administrator is a specialist that models, designs and creates the databases and tables used by a software solution.
The Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database.
The DBA will also be involved in the development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users
Provides an efficient and professional frontline service to the software team.
Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Communicating with the software team to ensure that the system is running correctly
Project and Administration coordination:
· Identifying database requirements by analyzing department applications, programming, operations and evaluating existing systems.
Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up and recovery specifications.
Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts, recommending optimum access techniques, coordinating and installation requirements.
Provides information by answering questions and requests.
Supports database functions by designing and coding utilities.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security.
Considering both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.
Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model and further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
Installing and testing new versions of the Database Management System.
Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act.
Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
Controlling access permissions and privileges.
Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans.
Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correct.
Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users.
Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database.
Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters, implementing new releases, completing maintenance requirements, evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
General Administration
