Software engineer (Python / Ruby) - R35k-R60k CTC

A big data analytics company based in CT and London is looking for a passionate Software engineer (Python / Ruby) to join the team. 

The job will primarily involve using Ruby, Rails, Python and Javascript. The problems that need solving include concurrency, multi- dimensional data mining, advanced graphic visualisation using HTML 5, scaling and harnessing utility cloud computing.

You'll be working on anything from advanced data visualisation on the client side, to customised data mining algorithms on server side. The job includes extending their rapidly evolving analysis platform as well as creating new products. It’s a fast paced, agile environment focused on software delivery. They operate as close to the bleeding edge as possible to leverage other open source projects to develop a platform that is shaking up an industry.

Requirements:

• Experience with Python OR Ruby on Rails (knowing several languages is an advantage (especially a functional language).
• HTML 5.
• Modern JavaScript frameworks (, AngularJS, BackboneJS, Coffescript etc).
• It is not essential to have a CompSci or engineering background if the candidate has clearly demonstrated the mastery of programming.
• Experience with Agile programming.
