We are seeking a software systems implementer to work within our TransLution client services team. This is a customer facing position with most of the job duties delivered at the customer’s place of business. The position offers a challenging and rewarding work experience in a small company environment. Our business is growing and we seek team members who are interested in growing with us.
Once TransLution software has been sold and the solution has been designed, the project is handed over to our client services team to take it through software setup and configuration, user acceptance testing all the way to successful project competition on the customer site. The Implementation Specialist will work with other specialists on the team and the TransLution project manager as part of a team focused on delivery of an excellent result for the customer and for AfriSoft.
Primary responsibilities for an Implementation Specialist include:
- Software Configuration and Setup
Assist in preparing the customer, the software and related equipment for live implementation of the TransLution system. This may include configuring TransLution software for servers, touch-screen PC’s and RF bar-code scanners, installing wireless RF networks, configuring bar code printers, designing and printing bar code labels, preparing training materials or installing TransLution software and designing reports. Configuring data integration between TransLution software, SYSPRO software and other ERP software systems.
- On Site Implementation Support
Providing customer training and user support for the TransLution software while working at the customer’s site to ensure that they fully understand the product and how to use it. Implementing the software and integrating it into the customer’s MS-Windows network and installing and testing wireless networks, RF scanners, PC workstations and integration facilities for SYSPRO and other ERP software, weighing devices and laboratory testing equipment.
- User Support
Providing the customer with telephone and on-line support in the operation of the software system and trouble-shooting problems. Occasionally providing doing additional user training, user support or implementing upgrades at the customer site.
- Travel
Travel to/from customer sites (many are in Gauteng) in South Africa and bordering countries. You must have dependable transport.
General skills required by an AfriSoft Implementation Specialist include:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a confident manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and external influences
- Able to handle irate customers
- Must be prepared to work extended hours if required
- Must be a team player with good written and oral communication skills yet able to work independently when required
- Own transport is essential
- Passport is essential
- Must be qualified to work in South Africa
- Matric qualification at a minimum
- Tertiary degree in Information Technologies or completion of course work in IT systems, software engineering or network and desktop support.
- Three years of industry experience in manufacturing operations, warehouse operations and/or IT systems implementation and support.
- Basic SQL knowledge (ability to build SQL queries)
- Ability to write scripts using VB .NET
The following skills would be an advantage but are not a requirement. These skills may be acquired as part of on the job training:
- Knowledge of BarTender Software or knowledge of the structure and use of Bar Codes
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports Software
- Basic understanding of SYSPRO, PASTEL EVOLUTION or other ERP software
- Knowledge of manufacturing plants, warehouses and their operations
- Knowledge of local area networks in an MS-Windows operating environment.
