SOFTWARE TESTER – BEE POSITION

Qualification:
Minimum Requirements:
Post-matric education with subjects related to software testing
ISTQB Certified (International Software Testing Qualifications Board)
Preferably, in addition to the above:
A degree with subjects related to business administration and / or IT
A formal qualification in the short-term insurance industry, e.g. Certificate of Proficiency

Minimum Requirements:
Clear ITC and clear criminal record
At least two years working experience as a tester in the financial services industry, alternatively at least two years working experience in the short-term insurance industry with good user knowledge of a relevant IT system and a keen interest to work as a tester
Preferably at least two year’s working experience in the short-term insurance industry
Preferably at least one year’s hands-on experience developing test plans and cases, executing test cases and analysing the results
Exposure to a financial system, preferably related to short-term insurance
Strong understanding of the various phases of a software development life cycle
Good appreciation of software design principles, practices and patterns
Structured approach to software testing
PC literacy (Including excellent knowledge of MS Office)
Ability to “see the bigger picture”, i.e. appreciate the business context in which the software will be deployed
A keen interest in the latest trends in software development;
Committed to delivering high quality work;

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main purpose of this position is to take responsibility for the testing of software, the implementation of test methodologies and processes. This includes the compilation and creation of Test plans, Test Cases from the design Documentation.
The duties and responsibilities of the Software Tester include the following:
Compilation of Test Cases. Document Test Results, Perform Execution Testing and defect Reporting;
Development and execution of test plans
Meet operational test requirements and technical test specifications
Ensure the execution of test cases is correct, and document the process if new functionality has been added;
Test Cases should always be updated when existing processes have been altered;
Integration testing with third-party portals;
Documenting defects in TFS, re-testing previously failed test cases to verify fixes in a timely manner;
Interact with Developers to understand issues and replicate conditions causing the issues. Verify post development bug fixes.
Provide status update to Test Manager on tasks as well as to Agile team (POD)
Participate in all SCRUM ceremonies
Draft operational procedures and standards and ensure compliance.
