We are looking for 3 testers to work on a 6 month contract as part of the QA team on the in house software developed by Application Frameworks. This software is primarily in the Utilities industry running on local or hosted Windows and Oracle platforms and based on a Service Orientated Architecture.

2 Primary Job Responsibilities

2.1 Work closely & co-cooperatively with colleagues and business partners, in all phases of the SDLC used at Application Frameworks, to ensure that quality software is developed according to specification.

2.2 With test objectives outlined, prepare Test Cases within a prescribed template from Usage Scenarios, Functional and Business Requirement specifications as well as from walk-through s with product experts.

2.3 Work closely with the Testing & Analysis Role Groups to create test cases.

2.4 Test execution will be done in a manual and automated fashion.

2.5 Types of testing that will be required to perform: Black-box (Functional) testing, Regression testing, Developer testing, Deployment Testing.

2.6 Deliver test results and related work on schedule and in line with the Test Plans.

2.7 Enter and maintain bugs logged in an internal issue-tracking system.

2.8 Maintain test documentation per functional area as functional changes within the software occur.

2.9 Provide regular progress/status updates to Testing and Development Team Leaders; take direction from Team Leader; track assigned tasks and update time-sheets daily.

2.10 Candidate should be able to self-manage.

2.11 Candidate must be willing to travel locally and abroad.

2.12 Candidate will be required to work flexible hours as the Project timeline’s requires.

2.13 Must have own transport.

3 Secondary Job Responsibilities

3.1 Perform ad hoc 1st & 2nd line support as appropriate.

4 Minimum Required Skills and Experience

4.1 ISTQB Foundation Level Certificate.

4.2 Any form of Tertiary Education (Must be Information System related) Certificate or higher (Diploma/Degree).

4.3 Minimum for 2 years testing experience.

4.4 SQL Experience.

4.5 Knowledge of Quality Assurance Principles and Methodology.

4.6 Experience in documentation of test cases for Source Documentation.

4.7 Knowledge pertaining to the Software Development Life Cycle and System Testing Life Cycle.

4.8 Understanding of testing challenges presented when applications are tested in isolation or in conjunction with interfacing applications.

4.9 Fastidious attention to detail.

4.10 Work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

4.11 Good oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.

4.12 Self-starter who works well independently and is also able to positively collaborate in ad hoc teams to achieve desired outcomes and who can work under continual deadlines.

4.13 Competent user of Windows and MS-Office.

5 Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience

6 Premises is in Tyger Waterfront, Bellville Cape town, own transport is advantageous.

NB: Candidates must be able to write test cases off existing documentation.
