Job Summary:
As a Software Tester, you will form part of an application software development effort on a variety of projects in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. Your role is to test quality software products as a member of the software development team, allocate those bugs to the relevant developers and work closely with the Software Architect to establish and fulfill a continuous integration strategy. You will work closely with the Software Developers, System Engineers and Software Architects to develop new product offerings and improve existing ones. There is a fair amount of integration with software and hardware sub-systems involved and the position needs an adaptive and quick-learning person willing to apply themselves to problem solving as well as taking ownership of the software system as a whole. This poslfion reports to the Team Leader Software
Travel Requirements:
This position requires occasional travel in South Africa. You will be based in Gauteng and most of the travel will be to the Cape Town and Durban areas.

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform software testing as a member of a dedicated development team to ensure the implementation of software that conforms to industry standards.
- Perform testing of applications and systems by exercising functionality, reliability, robustness and GUI tests.
- Investigate and implement automated testing within the software development environment.
- Compile test reports for the software development team.
- Integrate hardware and software sub-systems together, including fault-finding and troubleshooting.
- Report on a project basis to the project managers, software systems architect and development team leaders.
Required Skllls:
- Familiarity with various software packages and basic network and hardware troubleshooting experience is necessary
- Linux experience is advantageous
- Experience in the defence industry will be advantageous
- Familiarity with military communication systems will be advantageous
- Knowledge of scripting tools and automated test mechanisms will be advantageous
Qualifications:
- Experience in a previous testing position will be advantageous
- Experience with computers and hardware will be advantageous
