This 5* luxury wilderness lodge is set in the stunning area of the Cederberg Mountains outside Clanwilliam. The styling of the lodge is luxurious ‘Modern African Farmhouse’, creating a warm and inviting interior yet classically light and modern. The lodge caters for a guest who would like to explore the surrounding landscape by hiking, mountain biking or meandering to the wineries in the area taking in the unique views.

If you are a chef that will be inspired by the beautiful surroundings and abundance of local produce to create a culinary experience equal to the breath taking views, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will be part of a young, growing team and elaborating on the food identity of the lodge, with access to a kitchen with all new equipment.

seasonal ingredients showcasing, etc.

• Responsible for up skilling chefs, implementing & maintaining kitchen standards

Skills required
• Creative menu planning and versatile cooking skills
• Great attention to detail
• Able to communicate effectively with staff, supplier and guest
• Good Wine knowledge
• Some experience with dietary needs: vegan, coeliac, gluten-free, etc.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED (QUALIFICATIONS OR TRAINING PROGRAMS)
• At least 3 to 4 years’ relevant experience
• Passion for creating fabulous food
• A formal or tertiary food qualification


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• 3 weeks on, 1 week off
• Live-in accommodation, not shared with own bathroom
• Meals on duty
• Other staff: 1 Head Chef, 1 Snr Commis Chef, 1 x Jnr Commis Chef, 2 x General Kitchen hands, 1 x Scullery
• 3-month probation period
• To start ASAP

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
• First shortlisted candidates will be required to have a Skype / telephonic interview
• Second shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a cooking interview at the Lodge, overnight accommodation will be provided if
and as agreed with the owners
• Full integrity checks will be completed including references, criminal and / or any other checks in line with the client’s requirements
• Full and up-to-date CVs in Word format to be sent with the following: full food portfolio, photograph, copies of qualifications, references if
available – these will be verified, last / current salary and availability
