A 5 star lodge in the Mpumalanga area is looking for a Sous/Pastry ChefRequirements for this position includes:Experience in the kitchens of 5 Star LodgesChef School (or similar qualificationsPrevious experience in the Pastries departmentBasic computer skillsFirst Aid and Fire Training preferable but not essentialEnglish speakingDriver’s LicenseMUST HAVE:Passion for food and dessertsExperience of stock control and food portioningExperience in stock takingHands on approachSensitive to cultural issues/patient with team membersAbility to share ideas/new recipes with colleagues and train themGood social and interpersonal skillsEffective menu planningConfidence in explaining dinner menu in front of guestsSense of ownership and pride for the guest experienceGood eye for detailAbility to work long, flexible hoursFlexible attitude and willing to take on tasks as necessaryAble to interact with guests and behave appropriatelyAbility to plan and organizeKnowledge of good kitchen hygiene practiceWell groomed and a good sense of personal hygieneRealistic expectations of bush lifeDUTIES INCLUDE:Prepare meals and pastries for the LodgesMaintain a distinctive, high quality Pan-African style of cuisine with seasonal, local ingredients when assisting the Chefs with food preparationWork some nights a week to provide Exec/Head Chefs with a night offLiaise with wait staff and communicate effectively during serviceAssist and collect orders from the main store on a daily basisPay attention to Special Requests for guestsHelp plan and prepare the menu’s for serviceMonitor and authorize overtime for Pastry Chef AssistantPlay your part in ensuring guests get the best experience possibleMaintain a high level of hygiene in line with statutory requirementsIf you have not recieved a reply within 2 weeks, consider your application unsuccessful
