A leading financial services group seeks an experienced Compliance Officer to ensure that the Compliance Risk Management Policy (CRMP) and related FAIS Directives are effectively implemented.

Key Requirements:

• Legal degree
• From 3 years' experience in a compliance function within the financial services industry
• Completion of the Compliance Institute of South Africa training modules advantageous
• Experience in compiling and conducting presentations
• Experience interacting with Regulators
• Report writing experience
• Strong technical compliance knowledge
• Experience in interacting with executive management and staff
• Strong knowledge of legislation that impacts on the financial services industry - Long Term Insurance Act, FICA, FAIS, Solvency Assessment and Management Requirements, etc
• Sound knowledge or risk management principles
• Experience in transferring of knowledge to individuals and groups of people.

Key Outputs:

• Responsible for establishing a CRMP by providing input into the Policy;
• Form good working relationships with industry bodies / work groups, FAIS forums, Regulators etc. and maintaining these relationships.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of the CRM program by advising the Divisions, by providing input and guidance, on the establishment and maintenance of controls and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with FAIS compliance obligations;
• Keep abreast of FAIS laws, rules, standards and new developments in respect of this Act and informing and advising the Compliance Officers thereof;
• Compile FAIS Directives to provide guidance to Divisions in respect of specific FAIS matters;
• Issuing FAIS Directives for comment to Compliance Officers and ensuring finalization and approval in terms of the CRMP;
• Implementing a SAM policy monitoring program.
• Responsible for compiling, submitting, overseeing, providing or giving input to compliance risk/regulatory reports (regular and ad hoc) to regulators (annual FAIS compliance reports of all FSPs), Senior Management, Divisional Management and Group Compliance.
• Responsible for reviewing Divisional Compliance reports and resolving any inconsistencies or reporting issues;
• Compiling a Draft Board report based on the Divisional Compliance reports received on behalf of the Group Compliance Officer.
• Responsible for ensuring that FSP FAIS Compliance Reports and information is timeously and accurately captured onto FSB systems where relevant.
• Ensure continuity exists in respect of FAIS Licensed Compliance Officer requirements by acting as alternative FAIS Compliance Officer on relevant FSP's
