Our client is a major mine operation based in Kuruman, Northern Cape and they are currently looking to hire a Specialist Continuous Improvement. The suitable candidate will be responsible for leading the continuous improvement initiatives which include identifying opportunities, evaluating business processes, translating business requirements into system requirements, developing and implementing solutions, training and coaching employees, monitoring new processes and providing on-going support.

Minimum Qualifications (essential unless otherwise indicated):

• Grade 12
• Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Business Management/Commerce, Engineering or Mining
• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management/Commerce, Engineering or Mining (Advantageous)

Experience and requirements (Essential Unless Otherwise Indicated):

• Minimum 4 years’ experience (for Diploma candidates) in continuous improvement (advantageous), commerce/consulting or in Mining or Heavy industry related environment
• Minimum 2 years’ experience (for Degreed candidates) in continuous improvement (advantageous), commerce/consulting or in Mining or Heavy industry related environment
• Minimum 1 years’ managerial experience

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Support and participate in sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimization.
• Identify improvement initiatives and team recognition.
• Direct management of a portfolio of improvement ideas.
• Ensure that templates, tools, and processes for managing and tracking sustainable improvement are used in an effective and efficient manner across the property.
• Provide regular reporting (e.g. RAR, scoreboards, daily work plan reviews) to the Continuous Improvement Manager and other site management as appropriate.
• Implement compliance requirements.
• Plan, direct and assess Quality Management directly related to improvement initiatives.
• Implementation of operational plans.
• Drive process improvements.
• Develop and deliver effective training on business improvement tools, processes, and systems within Business Improvement and to the line when required.
• Lead the development of work plans to sustain continuous improvement and remediate gaps in skills, processes and other components required for high performance (wiring).
• Oversight of implementation of improvement ideas.
• Implement and manage approved budget.
